FROM THE RECTOR
It's hard for me to believe that Lent is nearly upon us. But with Ash Wednesday coming up next week, we are reminded to prepare ourselves for this season of fasting and reflection.
For many people Lent is a bit of a downer. It has none of the anticipation of Advent, nor does it have the same sense of joy that comes with Easter. But Lent is perhaps one the most important seasons in the life of the Church.
Lent is a forty- day season of fasting and preparation, culminating in Holy Week and Easter Sunday. It is a season of introspection and of making an honest assesssment of our faith in Christ. Historically, the faithful would give up something for Lent in an effort to gain mastery over their physical appetites. In more recent times, it has become common for many to take on an additional devotion or activity in order to strengthen our faith and trust in Jesus. Either way is good, and there is no reason we cannot give something up and take something on during these next 40 days.
I pray that this Lent will be a time of reflection and renewal for Trinity Church, that we will continue to make Jesus the focus of our daily lives.
Wishing you an abstemious Lent, I remain
yours in Christ,

STATIONS OF THE CROSS - will begin on Wednesday, February 24th at 7:00 pm - 7:30 pm in the main church and will continue every Wednesday evening in Lent at 7 pm. Stations of the Cross is an opportunity for the faithful to trace the Via Delorosa or "Way of Sorrows" as we reflect on Christ's final hours leading to His Crucifixion. This short service of prayer and singing is a powerful meditation on Jesus' Passion and I encourage all of you to make it a part of your Lenten devotion. - Fr Rodriguez
