Lent II

February 28,  2010

FROM THE RECTOR

You may not know that there is a Lenten program going on in Red Bank called, appropriately enough,  "Red Bank Lent."  (clever marketing, eh?).   The event is hosted by the Greater Red Bank Minister's Association (GRBMA) and is an ecumenical event intended to get Christians of different "sorts and conditions" to worship with one another.   Trinity is a participating parish in "Red Bank, Lent" and you can see the list of other parishes and offerings at the Red Bank Lent website.

The reason I bring this up is that this past Wednesday marked our first Lenten observance of Stations of the Cross and we were blessed to have several people visiting from other local parishes and  some non-churched folks as a result of seeing our Front Street banner and website.   I was glad to have almost thirty people in attendance on Wednesday but I'd be remiss if I did not encourage and remind you to make Stations of the Cross part of your Lenten devotion.   Free nursery care is available, so don't miss out on this opportunity to deepen your relationship with the Lord and be a witness to the life and ministry at Trinity Church.

I look forward to seeing you on Sunday!

Wishing you an abstemious and holy Lent, I remain

yours in Christ,

HEADLINES

PARISH WEBSITE - Wondering if you are scheduled to lay read, or chalice bear on Sunday?  Not sure if the kids are scheduled to serve at the altar? Not to fear, you'll find the Master Schedule for acolytes, lay readers etc  as well as online sermons, the "official" Trinity Calendar and this newsletter at our website, www.TrinityRedBank.org  The website is your one-stop-shop for news and events in the life of this parish.  Check back frequently!
NEW SERVICE BOOKS. -  We will have new Holy Eucharist Service Books in use this Sunday at the 10:15 am service with an icon of the Holy Trinity on the front cover.   In the past few versions of the Service Book we've included the music for the mass settings in the booklet itself (Kyrie, Gloria etc.).  However with the new books only the text will be provided, the music will be found in the hymnal or in the bulletin as an insert; see the Sunday bulletin for details.

These new service books will give us flexibility in the service music and might also be used at said services.   Please let me know if you have any comments or suggestions!   - Fr. Rodriguez

CANNED GOODS NEEDED  - Trinity Church will be collecting canned goods for delivery to Lunch Break.    Please bring non-perishable canned food items with you on Sunday and leave them on the table in the parish hall.   Along with the Red Bank Ministerium, I am serving meals at Lunch Break on March 18th along and will deliver our canned goods at that time.  Please be generous!  - Fr. Rodriguez

STATIONS OF THE CROSS - continues Wednesdays in Lent at 7:00 pm - 7:30 pm  in the main church.  Nursey care is available.   Stations of the Cross is an opportunity for the faithful to trace the Via Delorosa  or "Way of Sorrows" as we reflect on Christ's final hours leading to His Crucifixion.  This short service of prayer and singing is a powerful meditation on Jesus' Passion and I encourage all of you to make it a part of your Lenten devotion. More details are availabel on our parish website.  - Fr Rodriguez
