EASTER  III

April 18,  2010

 FROM THE RECTOR

Alleluia, Christ is Risen!

Well friends, Spring has indeed "sprung."   The other day Kathy and I were driving on the Parkway and I commented to her how odd it was to see leaves on the trees.   Of course I knew better, having struggled these past ten days with allergies that Spring is "in the air".   I like Spring. Come to think of it, I've never met anyone who doesn't enjoy the springtime, even with allergies.

Spring is all about new birth and new life - what was old is new again, what was leafless is now in full bloom.   For the Christan, Jesus' Resurrection on Easter is at very heart of what it means to be born again.  By faith in Christ we are freed from the death that is common to all mandkind and instead offered the free gift of eternal life.

With this in mind it is good for us to consider from time to time, areas in our own life where perhaps we need to be "reborn" or where perhaps we need to live out our faith more deliberately. There are many ways to be more deliberate in our walk with God here at Trinity Church.   On April 25th at 3 pm we will welcome our Bishop for Confirmation and Reception where I will present eleven people to him.  Please be deliberate and join us for that event.  You'll see many more events in the weeks to come, the Love Dare, the ACT Lock in, Dinner at Sal's this Friday evening.  All of these things are opportunities for you to be deliberate in your walk with the Lord.  Real faith requires work, it requires intent. And a healthy and vibrant community of Christians requires people who will be deliberate in their walk with God and each other.   Let me encourage you this Spring to try something new, to step out in faith and to deliberately engage one of the many opportunities for ministry in the life of this parish.

 Yours in Christ,
