EASTER  V

May 2nd,  2010

 FROM THE RECTOR

Alleluia, Christ is Risen!

For the past several weeks I reminded and encouraged our parish to make every effort to be here for the Bishop's important visit last Sunday.  Thank you, thank you, thank you... to everyone who came out and supported our Confirmands, those who were Received and our Bishop this past Sunday.  What you may not know is that he didn't have to come.  Bishop Councell is the sole bishop of this Diocese that encompasses 155 congregations, and he is canonically bound to visit each parish only every three years.  Given that we had a visit from Bishop Romero less than two years ago, I wasn't sure if Bishop Councell would be able to accommodate us.  But he did.  After his scheduled visit to Christ Church Middletown on Sunday morning,  he made an extra effort to come to us at my request.

On Sunday, I presented ten candidates for Confirmation and Reception to the Bishop and he was very pleased to see not only the number of people presented, but also the number of people present!  The Church was full, the singing and liturgy was glorious, and most importantly, the Holy Spirit was with us!   So again I thank you.   I thank you for coming out to support our Candidates and our Bishop.   And I thank you for supporting the mission of your parish as we continue to grow in spiritual depth and numbers.

On a related note, this past Sunday Thom May and I received word from the Bishop that Thom will be received as a priest in the Anglican Communion in June after final approval by the Standing Committee.  Details are still sketchy and we will keep you posted.  But this is another example of new life at Trinity Church and for this we should thank our Lord for His provision.

Finally let me thank God for you!    This parish is only as strong as the faith of its' parishioners and I am continually amazed at the things we can do when we come together and trust our heavenly Father.  With a grateful heart I remain,

yours in Christ,
